Six and Sons, an independent concept store and platform for sustainable brands, is launching a curated pop-up dedicated to 23 sustainable and independent British brands making a first entry into the Dutch market. The innovative pop-up will run for six weeks at its flagship store in Amsterdam.
The innovative pop-up will highlight brands and products with a clear sustainability ethos; using recycled materials, providing an alternative to plastic, having CSR efforts or using environmentally sustainable sources. The brands offer products in categories ranging from food and drink, fashion, skincare, accessories and homewares, and each has a story to tell focusing on helping save our planet. The popup is a showcase to build awareness and provides a great chance to meet exciting new brands from all over the UK.
The limited-edition “Best of Sustainable Retail pop-up” marks the first entry into the Dutch market for most of the brands.
Ilona Taillade, co-founder of the Six and Sons, said: ”With this first concept, Six and Sons has created a blueprint for a pop-up dedicated to sustainable brands entering new markets, offering a low risk and economical kick-start that avoids burdens such as rent or local banking arrangements. It acts as a gateway for brands to enter and test a new market, and crucially helps to raise brand awareness among both consumers and potential buyers and distributors.”
A dedicated focus on sustainability is in line with the UK Government’s Clean Growth ambitions, as the UK prepares to host COP26, The UN Climate Change Conference in November 2021. As North Sea Neighbours, the Netherlands and the UK work jointly on the climate agenda.
Minister for Exports at the Department for International Trade, Graham Stuart, said:
“We cannot afford any delay in the fight against climate change. The Department for International Trade is committed to working to protect our planet and ensure a greener and more resilient future for all.”
“It is wonderful that Six & Sons are providing a platform for UK businesses that share our passion for this issue to raise their profile in a new market. As we look towards the UN Climate Change Conference next year, the Department will work with a diverse range of organisations to make sure we represent the best of this country’s efforts to find sustainable solutions. Through close collaboration, we can meet the UK’s 2050 net zero emissions target, grow our exports and help others on their journey to net zero too.”
In the absence of international trade fairs and trade missions, the Department for International Trade is providing SMEs with export ambitions extra support, presenting alternative virtual networking opportunities. In this context, we are presenting a 6-week collaboration with the concept store Six & Sons in the heart of Amsterdam combined with a virtual match-making event to increase collaboration between businesses from both countries.
In collaboration with the UK Department for International Trade and We Are Pop Up, British brands have been carefully selected and curated by Six and Sons to showcase the Best of UK Sustainable Retail.
