Forecourt Eye, the UK’s leading fuel crime prevention and debt recovery platform, today announced that Penny Petroleum has commenced a six-site trial of its integrated digital platform, with discussions underway for potential deployment across the operator’s entire estate.

The trial represents one of the most comprehensive evaluations of forecourt security and loss-prevention technology currently underway in the UK fuel retail sector, combining advanced ANPR crime prevention, algorithmic debt recovery, and real-time EPOS connectivity into a single operational platform.

Michelle Henchoz, Managing Director at Forecourt Eye, said:

“Our Chairman, Brian Madderson, led the introduction to this top 50 indie and the trial represents a pivotal moment for modern forecourt operations.

“Penny Petroleum is evaluating a fully integrated approach to the three biggest operational pressures facing fuel retailers today: fuel crime, margin erosion and regulatory compliance.

“With coverage across almost 22% of UK fuel sites and a decade of operational data, we’ve built what is now widely recognised as the most comprehensive crime prevention and loss-recovery platform available to the sector. This trial will demonstrate how that capability translates into measurable operational and financial impact.”

The trial will assess Forecourt Eye’s integrated platform across four key areas:

Real-time ANPR Crime Prevention: Live vehicle alerts powered by DVLA integration and Forecourt Eye’s national offender database, with 94% of alerts identifying offenders unknown to individual operators. The system provides real-time warnings before high-risk vehicles refuel, enabling proactive intervention.

The UK’s Largest Private Fuel Crime Database: Access to over 250,000 vehicle registrations linked to verified fuel crime incidents nationwide, giving operators unprecedented intelligence on known offenders across the UK forecourt network.

Digital Debt Recovery: Advanced algorithmic tracing and data analysis delivering proven returns of between 5:1 and 10:1 on debt recovery investment, with comprehensive case management and transparent reporting.

EPOS Integration: Seamless connectivity supporting compliance, audit accuracy and comprehensive incident tracking. Currently delivered via secure manual upload, with automated push API integration in final deployment.

Beyond crime prevention, the platform addresses critical operational requirements including audit trail compliance, recovery of revenue from historically unreported incidents, and the ability to contribute offender intelligence back into the national database.

Tony Jackson, Chief Commercial Officer at Penny Petroleum, said:

“We operate 99 sites serving communities across the UK, and we take our responsibility to protect our business, our staff and our customers extremely seriously.

“This trial allows us to rigorously evaluate Forecourt Eye’s platform in real-world conditions across a representative sample of our estate.

“We’re looking for measurable impact on crime prevention, compliance efficiency and revenue protection and, based on what we’ve seen so far, we’re confident this technology can deliver.”
