Westgate Oxford has announced a refreshed brand offering for guests to enjoy this Summer. The Danish homewares and lifestyle retail chain, Søstrene Grene, who have over 300 stores worldwide, opened on Friday, 9th August, at 10am. Meanwhile local pizza business, Slice & Dice, opened at the Oxford-based shopping centre on 12th July in Westgate Social Street Food and shoewear brand, Clarks opened in a 2,699 sq ft unit on the Upper Ground floor next to Schuh last month.
Danish brand Søstrene Grene opened their first Oxfordshire based store this month. The store is part of the retailer’s major UK expansion and will showcase a selection of affordably priced trend-driven products alongside a staple homeware selection.
Taking inspiration from the Danish philosophy of ‘hygge’, each of the stores are designed to be cosy and calming, with soft lighting, classical music and a labyrinth-style layout, which guides guests through various departments before arriving at the checkout.
To celebrate the opening, the brand gifted its first 100 customers with a voucher for a large, tufted rug valued at over £60, alongside a canvas tote bag filled with Søstrene Grene goodies. Guests were also welcomed to the new store with live performances from string musicians and ballet dancers.
Founded by local Oxford business owners Michael Pearson and Bruce Isaacs, who also own Benito’s at Westgate Oxford, Slice & Dice creates New York-style thin crust pizza. The branch is their first physical restaurant and sells their authentic handmade pizzas by the slice or as a whole 20” pie.
The kiosk also sells a curated range of salads, cheesecakes, American beers and cocktails, and offers guests the opportunity to roll the dice after each purchase for a chance to win an additional free slice of pizza.
Family-owned shoewear brand, Clarks, new store is named a ‘modern workshop’, and boasts a contemporary look, with bold design storytelling and rebooted merchandising. It stocks the brands full range of shoes for men, women and children including their new summer collection including holiday styles and trainers.
Brendan Hattam, Centre Director at Westgate Oxford, commented: “Here at Westgate Oxford, we always strive to create the best possible customer experience, so we’re delighted to have welcomed some new brands to our line-up this Summer.
