Merry Hill has announced that Superdrug, the renowned British health and beauty retailer, will significantly upsize its store at the top 10 super regional centre, doubling its footprint to 16,000 sq ft, making it one of the brand’s largest stores in the UK.

Planned to open in Q2 2026, Superdrug’s recommitment to Merry Hill is the latest in a series of leading brands to significantly invest in the centre, following M&S’ creation of a 100,000 sq ft flagship store, which opened in November. The upsized store will feature an even more extensive range of the latest beauty products, as well as access to treatments such as ear piercing, manicures, and eyebrow threading.
Superdrug’s upsize reinforces Merry Hill’s appeal to health, beauty, and wellness brands; with Merry Hill stating that in 2025 there has been to date a 3% year-on-year sales boost in this category. Merry Hill also celebrated the upsize and relocation of affordable health and beauty retailer Savers, a sister brand to Superdrug, both owned by A.S. Watson, into a 5,000 sq ft unit earlier this year, the largest in the UK so far.

Nick Round, Senior Asset Manager at Sovereign Centros from CBRE, commented: “Superdrug’s decision to upsize with us, creating one of its largest UK stores while investing in its existing space, shows how our tenants are succeeding. Merry Hill’s ability to attract investment is based on our understanding of what our catchment wants to spend their money on, meaning leading brands can thrive in the long-term.”
Clare Jennings, Property Director at Superdrug, added: “This year, we will continue our programme of refurbishing stores, acquiring new sites and expanding existing stores, with Merry Hill selected as the site for one of our largest Superdrug stores in the UK. Choosing Merry Hill for this expansion was ideal, given its strong mix of health and beauty retailers and its position as a super-regional hub in the West Midlands. It’s the perfect location to grow our store and continue serving our loyal Merry Hill customers.”

The news of Superdrug’s upsize follows Merry Hill’s recent announcement of 20,000 sq ft of new signings and reinvestments at the centre, including the addition of new brands such as Lovisa, Miniso and Select Apple.
