GATEZERO is no ordinary airport concept store. Bringing together high-end fashion, sneakers, accessories, beauty, pre-loved pieces and limited-edition drops, the brand sits at the intersection of travel retail, contemporary fashion culture and new luxury. For Gebr. Heinemann and Checkland Kindleysides, the ambition was to move the experience beyond traditional duty free, creating a destination with the cultural energy and curatorial confidence of a must see concept store.

Located at Frankfurt Airport and designed to coincide with the launch of its state-of-the-art Terminal 3 – the new concept marks a sharper, more premium expression of the GATEZERO brand. It is designed for fashion-forward global travellers who define luxury less by status and more by cultural credibility, discovery and access to what’s next.

Envisioned as a “portal to a world between worlds”, the design approach fuses the design codes of air travel with the visual language of street style. Technical aviation, playful luxury and contemporary fashion culture come together through a sculptural spatial language that feels precise, progressive and tuned to a new luxury consumer.

At the entrance, a dark-framed gateway and oversized circular portal create an immediate sense of intrigue, pulling travellers out of the terminal flow and into the GATEZERO world. Inside, polished surfaces, technical geometries and gallery-like product presentation create a refined but energetic atmosphere, allowing the curated product mix to lead the experience.

Brands including Acne Studios, Off-White, Comme des Garçons and Prada sit alongside pre-loved pieces and exclusive drops, turning the store into a destination for rarity, relevance and unexpected discovery en route. The new GATEZERO concept reframes the role of airport retail. Not as a place to simply pass through, but as a culturally charged destination for travellers who expect more before they fly.

Key Design Details/Destinations:
- Aviation-inspired storefront: The storefront is designed as a gateway into the GATEZERO world. A dark-framed entrance and oversized -inspired window installation creates bold first impression while capturing the spirit of modern travel and cultural exploration.
- Frankfurt-coded materiality: Smoked tinted glass references Frankfurt’s modern cityscape and high-rise architecture, creating a subtle connection between the airport environment and the city beyond. This architectural perimeter gives the store a sharper local identity while maintaining a premium international feel.
- Fuselage interior palette: An off-white and cream interior palette, inspired by fuselage-painted metals, gives the store a clean, aerodynamic quality. Polished surfaces and engineered details bring precision, lightness and technical refinement into the space.
- Technical geometry: The spatial language is built around technical geometries and sculptural forms, translating the functional world of aviation into a more elevated retail environment. Fixtures, portals and display systems feel precise, progressive and purposefully engineered.
- Playful luxury VM: Familiar airport cues are abstracted and reimagined as premium display moments. Refined security trays become sculptural visual merchandising tools, blending playful luxury with aviation design codes and creating unexpected moments of product discovery.
- Adaptable digital storytelling: Digital screens are integrated on engineered, adaptable arms inspired by aviation equipment, departure boards and mobile stair systems. This brings movement, flexibility and campaign energy into the store without compromising the architectural clarity of the space.
- First-class footwear lounge: The footwear lounge introduces the comfort and exclusivity of international air travel, it combines retro-future seating, modern pop-art colour accents and a built-in speaker system with spatial audio. The result is a first-class environment for fashion discovery and high-heat product moments.
