Redical, the owner and operator of The Liberty Romford, has announced that Costa Coffee, one of the UK’s leading coffee chains, has launched at the destination. This adds yet another industry-leading tenant to the mix, complementing the strong line-up of existing commercial café providers.

Costa Coffee has opened the doors to its new 4,069 sq ft space in a high footfall entranceway to The Liberty, hosting 90 covers. This latest addition offers customers a modern and relaxed space for quick service food and beverages, increasing dwell time at the destination to complement the adjacent retail. The opening highlights the growing demand for coffee, light meals and snacks within the centre, with Costa Coffee following in the footsteps of successful fellow operators at the scheme, including Black Sheep Coffee and Pret a Manger.

The introduction of Costa Coffee comes as a direct response to the success of the F&B category at The Liberty Romford, which has achieved a 6% uplift compared to 2025. This in turn has contributed to a year-to-date footfall increase of 6.4%, evidencing the success of Redical’s strategy to deliver a destination that successfully serves the needs of its dedicated catchment.

Dan Tucker, Leasing Manager at Redical, commented: “The opening of Costa Coffee not only enriches our café offer, but also The Liberty as a whole. It serves as another vote of confidence in the destination, demonstrating that leading brands continue to recognise its desirability, and role in serving the needs of the local community. We know this will bolster our already outperforming café category, giving visitors more reasons to dwell, shop, and socialise at The Liberty.”

The opening of Costa Coffee follows the launch of Danish variety retailer, Flying Tiger at the destination, further strengthening the centre’s diverse and evolving retail offer. Located in close proximity to each other, both brands will work together to drive further footfall to the East Mall, whilst also demonstrating Redical’s ability to secure leading tenants destined to further transform the scheme.
