Lakeside, the UK’s sixth-ranked out-of-town super-regional destination owned and operated by SGS UK Retail, has announced the unveiling of Brompton Arcade, formerly Brompton Walk, and its strategic repositioning as a vibrant hub for independent businesses, local entrepreneurs and experience-led operations. Brompton Arcade’s new identity marks the latest move in Lakeside’s evolution and signifies the destination’s active step change under SGS’s leadership.

Located on Level 2 and serving as a gateway to the lake and its growing programme of sporting, leisure and outdoor activations, Brompton Arcade’s vision is to curate and support ambitious, independent and experience-led brands, providing them with greater visibility, operational support and access to Lakeside’s annual footfall of 17 million visitors. Local and independent operators will have the opportunity to trade alongside leading brands in a dynamic, evolving environment, including anchor brands FLANNELS, Reiss and Beaverbrooks. Placemaking enhancements include the introduction of new seating, extensive planting and a programme of creative activations, including changing community art installations.

Brompton Arcade forms part of a wider transformation programme at Lakeside to expand the breadth of the destination’s offer in line with its super-regional status. The destination has welcomed significant tenant investment including £100 million over the last three years, £30 million of which has been in the past six months alone. The investment will bolster the destination’s alignment with the needs and wants of its broad 8.5 million catchment located within one hour’s drive; provide greater visitor choice whilst establishing a social hub and community attraction; as well as embrace the point of uniqueness seldom found at super regionals, the lake. The ongoing investment by SGS reflects a broader commitment to creating distinctive spaces that champion individuality, community and collaboration.

To introduce prospective occupiers to Brompton Arcade, Lakeside will host an Open Day on Tuesday 30th June, aimed at ambitious operators of independent, experience-led brands and workspace concepts looking to connect with leasing teams, and explore how their business could benefit from being part of the Arcade’s next chapter, and Lakeside’s long-term vision for growth.

Robert Jewell, Managing Director of Asset Management at Pradera, commented: “Brompton Arcade represents an exciting new chapter for Lakeside, reflecting our ambition to create a destination that champions independent businesses and entrepreneurial talent. Through significant investment, we’re creating a renewed identity for the Arcade, one that combines unparallelled visibility with a strong sense of community and collaboration. Our Open Day presents a unique opportunity for ambitious operators looking to grow their business and become part of Lakeside’s long-term vision.”

The momentum behind Lakeside’s evolution continues with the forthcoming arrival of Inditex-owned Lefties, which will open a 58,000 sq ft flagship store this autumn, alongside an impressive line up of best-in-class retailers including Hollister, Bershka, Urban Outfitters, Space NK, PURESEOUL and Oliver Bonas, all set to open this summer. Together, these strategic additions are expected to underpin a forecasted 8% sales growth in 2026, reinforcing Lakeside’s strategy to enhance customer choice and deliver a continually evolving retail offer.
