The iconic Mercato Metropolitano in Elephant and Castle will play host to SUPER JUMBLE — a reimagining of the Great British jumble sale, brought to life by second-hand powerhouses TRAID, Beyond Retro, and Charity Super.Mkt.

The humble jumble sale, a mainstay of British life since the 1880s, is getting a supersized, 21st-century makeover. SUPER JUMBLE will welcome 1,000 lucky attendees to rummage through mountains of vintage and charity fashion at unbeatable prices, wrapped in a high-energy, festival-like experience.

Three leading second-hand retailers are coming together for the first time to offer a genuinely low-cost and fun way to shop for affordable vintage fashion. TRAID, London’s leading charity fashion retailer; Beyond Retro, known for the best of American vintage; and Charity Super.Mkt, the second-hand retail sensation, will combine forces to stage a bold and joyful event promoting conscious fashion.

Not Your Average Humble Jumble

With the rising demand for immersive and interactive experiences, SUPER JUMBLE will modernise and gamify the classic jumble sale format. Expect “elbows out” scrambles, klaxons, MCs, DJs spinning vinyl, street food, and a pint — all adding to the chaotic joy of the chase.

Set in Mercato Metropolitano — arguably London’s coolest food and drink venue — the event will run through breakfast, brunch and lunch, soundtracked by live DJ sets featuring warm-ups from some of London’s Saturday night regulars.

How SUPER JUMBLE Works

9:00 AM: Doors open to early bird ticket holders (£7).

9:30 AM: The FIRST RUMBLE IN THE JUMBLE begins. Everything is priced at £7 for 45 minutes of intense rummaging.

10:15 AM: STOP JUMBLING klaxon sounds. Attendees use self-checkout via giant venue QR codes and either exit or store items in the cloakroom.

10:30 AM: The SECOND RUMBLE IN THE JUMBLE kicks off. Entry is £4.50, with all items priced at £4.50.

12:00 PM: Final entry wave begins at £2, with every item now priced at just £2 for the final round of jumbling.

2:00 PM: Event wraps.

All sales are powered by a digital self-checkout system, ensuring a quick and seamless experience.

A Statement from the Founders

Maria Chenoweth, CEO of TRAID and co-founder of SUPER JUMBLE and Charity Super.Mkt:

“The fashion industry is producing more than ever before, and there are enough garments on Earth to clothe the next six generations. SUPER JUMBLE aims to keep clothes in use, make style accessible, and increase the UK’s adoption of second-hand fashion — all for the good of the planet.”

Wayne Hemingway, co-founder of HemingwayDesign, Red or Dead, Charity Super.Mkt, and Classic Car Boot Sale:

“The jumble sale gave me my start in fashion in the 70s and 80s — the thrill of the hunt, the community, the joy. SUPER JUMBLE brings that magic back, but on a massive scale. It’s fun, affordable, and a necessary answer to fast fashion’s impact on people and the planet.”

Why SUPER JUMBLE Matters

SUPER JUMBLE is a direct response to the growing volume of unsold second-hand clothing and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis. It gives the public access to style at scale — in a setting that’s social, sustainable, and joyfully chaotic.

This is an event for everyone: from “no spend month” minimalists to vintage lovers, eco-conscious shoppers, and anyone who just loves a good deal.
