The UK’s market leader in luxury vinyl flooring Karndean Designflooring is part of the new statement identity for contemporary furniture brand, Arlo & Jacob, across three of its UK showrooms to date.

Specified by Path Design and installed by A & B Flooring Ltd, Arlo & Jacob’s Bristol, Harrogate and Marlow showrooms feature a striking bespoke herringbone floor made from a combination of Karndean’s Knight Tile planks and tiles, each custom cut to a 915mm x 76mm plank, and laid in a random pattern of wood and stone.

Designed to complement the bright modern feel of the store and reflect the innovative nature and premium feel, the floor design delivered a sense of interest and flow and achieved a uniformed identity for Arlo & Jacob showrooms.

Arlo & Jacob is a contemporary furniture brand steeped in a history of British craftsmanship,” explains Fleur Carson, commercial sales director.

She said: “For a retail setting that needs to stand up to thousands of visitors each week, we were delighted to be the preferred choice, bringing both authentic style and a hard-wearing surface that is easy to maintain and will look great for years to come.

“Being able to offer the bespoke element of custom cut planks to match the specification, Path Design were able to look to the floor and create a stunning foil for the contemporary furnishings on display.

The random pattern of wood and stone in a herringbone laying pattern features a contemporary palette including Pale Limed Oak, Lime Washed Oak, Grey Limed Oak, Washed Scandi Pine and Cumbrian Stone.

Vicky Blizzard, designer at Path Design, said: “Our aim was to create a new showcase for Arlo & Jacob by aligning their online and offline identify into one holistic and memorable experience.

She said: “We wanted to create a space that reflected everything they are and do as a brand, from the big architectural statements through to the small design details, and an environment where customers could seek, dwell and share. With this in mind, it was important for us to consider every aspect of the design to reinforce their heritage, character and quality at every touchpoint.

“Combining this with the more functional requirements of being able to move large sofas easily, we were looking for a floor that gave us the ability to signify the British craftsmanship associated with the brand whilst maintaining the durability and practicality required.

“Opting for an elegant herringbone laying pattern using a mix of bespoke cut timber planks, we were able to make a real statement. The variation in tone complements the surroundings perfectly and maintains interest throughout the store.

“What’s more, the addition of the white timber and grey stone tiles allowed us to gradually punctuate the herringbone pattern, highlighting key areas within the store and allowing seamless transition between zones.”
