Pufferfish, the global creative technology company specialising in immersive experiences, is expanding its focus into the retail sector, unveiling a targeted offering designed to help brands capture attention, increase dwell time and drive in-store engagement. The company will showcase its latest retail-focused capabilities at Retail Technology Show 2026 (Stand U82), 22-23 April 2026, including a new creative concept and live demonstration of its flagship spherical display technology, the PufferSphere.

“Flat panel displays in modern retail environments are passive and easy to ignore,” said Stephen Patterson, CEO, Pufferfish Displays. “But when you introduce form, interactivity and storytelling, behaviour changes. People stop, engage and explore – and that’s where real value is created in retail. Our PufferSphere’s attract footfall and create “stop-and-look” moments. Retailers can showcase products in interactive, configurable formats, encouraging sharable, social brand experiences, which contribute to extended dwell times and increased customer engagement.”

Immersive retail, from concept to delivery

At the show, Pufferfish will present its PufferSphere, a 4k resolution, touch-responsive spherical display. Floor-mounted, the platform includes a cylindrical powder coated aluminium enclosure with customisation possibilities. Unlike traditional screens, the spherical format removes the concept of “front and back”, allowing multiple users to engage simultaneously. The touch system allows up to 64 fingers to interact simultaneously and, together with intuitive gesture controls, enable customers to explore products, configure options, and interact with brand content in a more natural way.

The display is supported by Pufferfish’s wider ecosystem, of which the fundamental element is the software. Every Pufferfish unit ships with an intuitive authoring environment that lets curators import media, map gestures and publish changes without writing code. For projects that demand more complexity, Pufferfish operate a full creative and software service capable of producing motion graphics, live-data visualisations and interactions for any size and shape of screen. Hardware secures the immediate “wow”, but carefully crafted content is what turns a first impression into long-term value.

As brands continue to invest in flagship stores, experiential retail and in-store theatre, Pufferfish sees significant opportunity to apply its technology and creative expertise in the sector,” added Patterson.

With headquarters in Edinburgh and deployments worldwide, the company combines hardware, software and content creation into a single, integrated offering, enabling retailers to deliver immersive experiences without the complexity of multiple suppliers.
