The Lexicon, a top 20 UK retail destination, has announced the signing of lifestyle retailer KENJI, demonstrating the centre’s appeal to on-trend brands. Furthermore, a series of significant lease renewals highlights continued retailer confidence in Berkshire’s premium retail and leisure scheme.

KENJI will bring its diverse range of contemporary homeware, gifting and lifestyle products to c.3,000 sq ft of trading space in The Lexicon. Joining brands such as Søstrene Grene, Rituals, Smiggle, and Waterstones, KENJI will add another dimension to The Lexicon’s growing lifestyle and gifting offer, providing visitors with an even greater choice of trend-led products and unique retail experiences.

The latest signing joins a strong trio of long-term recommitments from existing occupiers. Leading the renewals is OFFICE, choosing to remain at The Lexicon for another 10 years, Flying Tiger, committing for a further five years, and The Works; these also follow the recent opening of Eurochange. All renewing tenants are investing in their stores, with fresh fit outs and updated concepts in line with The Lexicon’s continued evolution. Together, the renewals represent approximately 10,000 sq ft of retail space and showcase The Lexicon’s sustained appeal and successful trading performance, which continues to outperform wider market trends.

Footfall is currently tracking ahead of both UK national averages and regional benchmarks by up to 3%, with a rolling footfall of 14.5m. The Lexicon continues to attract brand investment in part because of its high visitor numbers from across Berkshire, Surrey, and Hampshire – three of the UK’s most affluent counties.

Aran Uner, Asset Manager at The Lexicon, said: “This latest signing of KENJI, alongside a series of significant lease renewals, demonstrates the long-term success that the right retailers can have in The Lexicon, cementing its position as Berkshire’s leading retail and leisure destination. This reflects our leasing strategy, bringing together brands that are intelligently zoned, responding to changing customer demand, and creating long-term value for our entire occupier community. The combination of footfall growth from an affluent catchment, and continued investment in the customer experience, means The Lexicon is an increasingly important location for the best in retail, hospitality, leisure, and lifestyle.”

Eddie Shepherd, KENJI’s Managing Director, added: “We’re delighted to be bringing our diverse range of trend-led accessories, homeware, gifts, snacks and stationery to a top 20 UK retail destination. This is an important step in expanding our store concept throughout the UK, and in particular Southern England. The Lexicon is a natural choice for KENJI, with its continued strong trading performance, customer demographics, and complementary retail partners.”

Since opening in 2017, The Lexicon has transformed Bracknell town centre into one of the UK’s newest major retail and leisure destinations, with nearly 1 million sq ft of retail and leisure space. Home to regional flagship stores for Waitrose, Fenwick, Primark, Sports Direct and Marks & Spencer, The Lexicon combines premium brands, high street favourites, restaurants, cafés, entertainment, and leisure across five distinct retail zones.

This announcement follows the news that The Lexicon has appointed CBRE and Morgan Williams as joint letting agents. The collective expertise, understanding of the centre’s broad catchment, and brand relationships within Morgan Williams and CBRE will ensure The Lexicon continues to evolve as Berkshire’s premier modern lifestyle destination.
