Manchester-based bridal and occasionwear brand Six Stories has appointed Richard Davies as its new Commercial Director, bolstering the leadership team as the business continues its rapid growth in the UK and overseas.
Since its launch in 2019, Six Stories has rapidly established itself as a leader in the bridal and occasionwear sector. Founded by husband and wife Lucy and Ross Menghini, the brand has earned a place on the prestigious Sunday Times 100 list for the second consecutive year, becoming the first bridal label to achieve this recognition. With revenue reaching £10m in 2024 and projected to hit £15m in 2025, Six Stories has expanded into key UK and international retailers including Selfridges, ASOS, Next, Very, Macy’s and Nordstrom, all while maintaining its reputation for timeless, community-driven designs and genuine authenticity.
For the past seven years, Davies sat on the board at Absolute Collagen, where he worked closely with founders Maxine and Darcy Laceby and CEO Frances Russell, playing a pivotal role in transforming the business from an ambitious start-up into a household name. His contributions spanned international launches, securing private equity investment, and establishing strong financial and operational foundations. He worked closely with marketing to ensure decisions were ROI-led and was instrumental in growing the team to nearly 100, shaping company culture, and driving long-term strategic planning. These efforts helped the brand achieve 4th place in The Sunday Times 100 fastest-growing companies and secure listings with Boots, the UK’s biggest beauty retailer — cementing its position as a market leader.
At Six Stories, Davies will work closely with Co-Founder Ross Menghini across operations, finance, and commercial strategy, focusing on accelerating growth, supporting international expansion, and driving the next phase of growth. He is committed to harnessing the energy, creativity, and vision of the Six Stories team to drive innovation, strengthen the brand, and grow its community of loyal customers.
Commenting on his appointment, Davies said: “Fast-growth, founder-led businesses are where I thrive, and that’s exactly why I was so drawn to Six Stories. It’s a brand with an incredible product, outstanding branding, and a community that genuinely loves what the business stands for. But what truly sealed the deal for me was the energy, passion and excitement for the future that radiates from Lucy, Ross and the wider team. Coming from a founder-led, family-run business myself, I know how powerful that drive can be, and I’m excited to harness it as we continue to innovate and grow. It’s a hugely exciting time to be joining Six Stories, and I’m looking forward to being part of the journey ahead.”
