Moët & Chandon is opening its largest stand-alone Champagne bar in Europe at Harrods in Knightsbridge, London at the end of June. Located on the ground floor of the iconic department store, the Moët & Chandon Champagne Bar is set to be the must-visit place in the capital for champagne lovers to enjoy the spirit and glamour of the renowned House.
Moët & Chandon has been a champagne of choice for the international tastemakers and the icon of every celebration for centuries. Established in 1743 by Claude Moët, a pioneer and visionary of his time who had the dream to share the magic of Moët with the world – his spirit of generosity and savoir-faire was infectious. Over 279 years later Moët and Chandon opens its doors with a Europe-first permanent space, magnificently designed for unforgettable experiences at Harrods.
The centre piece is a dramatic hand-sculpted, gold sweeping chandelier set around the intimate 34- seated bar that will offer a full selection Moët & Chandon wines, from the iconic Moët Impérial and extroverted Rosé Impérial, to the innovative Ice Impérial. All served in a range of formats from by the glass, to magnum, and knowing Moët & Chandon guests can be sure to enjoy service with grandeur and special ‘Moët O’clock’ moments. To accompany each glass, expect decadent and delicious food pairings, both savory and sweet, created by Harrods specialist team of in-house chefs, from fresh seafood favourites to a fine selection of pastries that look tempting to the eye.
Created by architectural design studio Sybarite, the Moët & Chandon Champagne Bar at Harrods will be an impressive and contemporary space, delivered through architectural form with materials inspired by the heritage of the Maison.
Inspired by the terroir in which the precious Moët & Chandon grape vines grow, the central bar feature will be suggestive of a clay organic shape, as if it is light and floating. The bar top will be glass and beneath, the chalk terroir will be represented in the compressed and sustainable micro-paper surfaces crafted by hand to form a sculptural surface. Injected into the bar surface will be ‘the kiss’ replicating the Moët ‘X’ inspired by an old wax seal and up-lit to halo the glow of the base of the bottle or glass served to each guest.
A hand-crafted 21 x 5 metre chandelier will push through the space forming an arch referencing the arches of the Maison’s wine cellars. Two different finishes will give an ombre effect – concentrated in the centre with gold and then subtly fading into silver towards the edges.
“We are delighted to announce the opening of an iconic European permanent Champagne bar. We look forward to delivering extraordinary experiences and creating lasting celebratory memories within the world’s most iconic department store, honouring the vision of our founder Claude Moët to ‘share the magic of champagne with the world’ in opening this special destination,” comments Berta de Pablos-Barbier, President & CEO, Moët & Chandon.
“We are delighted to welcome the addition of this exceptionally designed customer experience which promises to be an iconic destination for both Londoners and international visitors. The Moët & Chandon Champagne Bar will be the perfect addition to our food and beverage offering, sitting alongside our leading chef-led restaurants and world-famous Food Hall destinations,” comments Michael Ward, Managing Director, Harrods.
