Liverpool ONE has launched a programme of family-orientated online initiatives to help the community stay entertained during lockdown.  Responding to research showing that having a focus and interest enhances overall mood and gives an improved sense of well-being, Liverpool ONE has created a series of virtual experiences that can be enjoyed via social media.

  • The popular Dinosaurs Unleashed event, originally built to entertain visitors at Liverpool ONE, has been relaunched to play in homes and gardens.  The Dinosaurs Unleashed home edition is free and transports budding palaeontologists back to the Jurassic era, allowing them to hatch dinosaurs, feed and interact with them, and go into battle against other dinosaur fans online.  Activation markers can be printed via the app to be hidden at home and in the garden to recreate the dinosaur hunt experience.   Park rangers are also online to provide gamers with tips, tricks and facts about the dinosaurs.  It is available on Android and iOS devices.
  • The famous ‘Tickle the Ivories’ pianos – a popular attraction across Liverpool ONE during the summer months – have been taken online in a virtual festival, ‘Tickle at Home’, via a dedicated YouTube channel.   As well as enjoying highlights from last year’s busking programme, established and budding musicians can upload their own clips, tagging Liverpool ONE, with the aim of creating shared experiences online.

  • Coinciding with the launch of the virtual experiences, Liverpool ONE has created a
new version of its logo to support the stay at home message.

Commenting on the virtual experiences, Alison Clegg, Director, Asset Management, Grosvenor Europe, said: “The evidence that people need to feel connected during the lockdown is overwhelming, and our stay-at-home virtual experiences have been launched to help achieve that.  Dinosaurs Unleashed is already creating a sense of community online, while Tickle at Home is bringing a smile to people, proving we do not have to be isolated from one another, or the places we love, even in these difficult times.”
