Scottish firm Midton manufactures retail merchandise success for A-lister Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC football club, with further major football club merchandise deals on target for the Argyll business in 2026
ARGYLL, SCOTLAND, May 2026
As the world gears up for a summer of football, Scottish manufacturing firm Midton is on target to strike a number of pitch perfect new business wins in 2026…with a range of club merchandise for Hollywood A-lister Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham AFC the first to be unveiled.
The rural setting of Lochgilphead, Argyll on the west coast of Scotland where Midton is based, along with the scenic Welsh town of Wrexham, are both far from the realms of Hollywood. But, thanks to Midton’s impressive state-of-the-art manufacturing capabilities, Wrexham AFC – and its owners, Reynolds and fellow actor and entrepreneur Rob McElhenney – have commissioned the Scottish firm to create its brand-new fan merchandise range.
Entitled Own a Piece of History, the new range offers fans the unique opportunity to buy a physical connection with Wrexham AFC, the world’s third oldest professional football club, and arguably the fastest growing in the world too thanks to the patronage of its owners. To create the new fan merchandise, Midton has set sections of Wrexham’s hallowed turf, goal net and pitch grass cuttings into a number of striking acrylic designs. Having enjoyed three promotions in a row, the launch of Own a Piece of History is timed with both the Club’s impressive winning form and the recent opening of Wrexham AFC’s new superstore in the city.
As the only foundry in Britain – and one of only a few worldwide – using its cutting-edge technologies to produce cast acrylic products for retail, Midton is the ‘name behind the names’ for a vast and varied roster of acrylic products, each diverse in shape and form, and for some of the world’s biggest brands. These clients include Formula 1, Nobel Laureate, LVMH, Zaha Hadid Architects, Johnnie Walker, Rothschild & Co, The Royal Television Society, V&A Dundee, Christopher Kane, and many others.
But it is the beautiful game that is presenting significant business growth opportunities for Midton in 2026. As well as the Wrexham project just launched, conversations are at an advanced stage with a number of other major international football clubs, each keen to use the Lochgilphead foundry’s world-class technology and bespoke design prowess to drive their own fan-based retail merchandise success.
Midton already has form in creating football memorabilia and custom football corporate gifts for the industry’s biggest names, with Manchester United a recent client success story. Keen to offer fans a physical piece of Old Trafford history, Midton worked with MUFC on its #thisisyourturf retail merchandise project. This saw Midton manufacture a range of acrylic turf cubes, with each cube featuring a piece of the Old Trafford pitch. Deploying GPS technological innovation, the uprooted turf used in the cubes featured the exact location of special moments throughout the recent history of Manchester United – including epic goals, freekicks and tribute matches.
Powering Midton’s football club merchandise plans for 2026 is a purpose-built factory where craft and technology meet, and where substantial investment in machinery has been made. Most notable in unlocking major growth opportunities for Midton has been the introduction of a new large autoclave machine. This game changing manufacturing asset is allowing Midton to produce larger, more complex, and higher-quality acrylic castings at scale, supporting growth across the lucrative global sports retail market, as well as other core markets including interiors, lighting, major installations, awards, and financial tombstones.
Speaking about the Wrexham AFC collaboration, Graham Ramsay and Craig Cameron, Directors of Midton said:
“Delivering this project for Wrexham AFC has been a fantastic experience for everyone at Midton. We have great admiration for Ryan and Rob’s commitment to the Club, and the remarkable success being delivered under their ownership. As fans of Welcome to Wrexham, it was surreal for us to actually visit the stadium, dig up the turf ourselves, and speak directly with the team on the ground. There’s such a rich sense of pride and history around the Club—and to help transform a piece of that legacy into something tangible for fans is a real privilege. These Own a Piece of History products aren’t just collectables—they’re lasting, personal connections to an iconic club with a global story. We’re proud to play a small part in that journey.”
“This year is shaping up to be one of great importance to Midton, with domestic and international football, as well as the wider sports merchandise markets, a key pillar of our growth strategy. Significant investment has been made into Midton’s manufacturing capabilities, particularly with a new specialised autoclave machine. This is proving to be a game changer in the scale, complexity and higher-quality casting work the foundry is now positioned to undertake. The global licensed sports merchandise markets was valued at over £28.5 billion in 2025, with forecasts increasing this to over £45.5 billion in the next decade. Midton is ambitious and focussed on seizing the exceptional opportunities that the global football and sports markets present.”

CREATING THE MIDTON PRODUCT – AT A GLANCE
Having enjoyed three promotions in a row, and timed to coincide with the launch of Wrexham AFC’s new superstore in the city, Own a Piece of History has seen Midton manufacture the star power of the Club.
The Midton team travelled from Lochgilphead in Argyll to the Wrexham stadium in the north-east of Wales, where prime, mapped out cuts of the pitch were carefully lifted, as well as sections of the goal net cut, before being transported back cross country and north to Scotland. In a preservation race against time, once back at Midton HQ, the turf was meticulously watered and aerated before being precisely sliced and set into acrylic cubes using Midton’s state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies. As the final touch, the pieces then had the Wrexham AFC brand marques applied. The result is a new retail merchandise range which delivers a statement of storied history and legacy creation; a remarkable opportunity for Wrexham AFC fans to get the ultimate design kick, with the turf, the net, and the grass serving as a centrepiece of Midton’s designs.
