Lakeside, the UK’s sixth ranked out-of-town super-regional destination owned and operated by SGS UK Retail, has welcomed a quartet of leading retailers – Inditex-owned Bershka, Hollister, Oliver Bonas, and Urban Outfitters – further strengthening its position as one of the UK’s leading lifestyle locations. The arrivals enhance the depth and diversity of Lakeside’s retail offer, responding to sustained visitor demand for an expanded fashion proposition.
Bershka has opened on Level 2 in a 12,500 sq ft store, bringing its trend-led womenswear, menswear and accessories to Lakeside. As one of Inditex’s flagship brands, the opening strengthens the destination’s appeal to Gen Z and Millennial shoppers, while broadening the contemporary fashion offer. Located next to Bershka, Hollister has opened a 6,000 sq ft store, introducing its signature quality apparel, accessories and fragrance to the scheme. The new store features the brand’s signature casualwear, alongside sportswear and swimwear collections, offering sought-after contemporary style to Lakeside’s annual footfall of over 17 million visitors.
On Level 1, Urban Outfitters has launched a 6,500 sq ft store, introducing its curated youthful mix of fashion, lifestyle and culture to Lakeside. Meanwhile, independent British lifestyle retailer Oliver Bonas, has opened a 4,000 sq ft store, also on the lower level, adding its signature colourful, design-led aesthetic and considered approach to everyday style and gifting. Together, the quartet of brands broaden Lakeside’s appeal across its catchment of 8.5 million people within one hour’s drive, and strengthens its position as a destination for contemporary and lifestyle retail.
Robert Jewell, Managing Director of Asset Management at Pradera, commented: “The arrival of Bershka, Hollister, Oliver Bonas, and Urban Outfitters demonstrates the continued confidence that leading international retailers have in Lakeside, and the strength of demand from our visitors. Together, these brands significantly enhance the breadth of fashion on offer, cementing its position as a best-in-class lifestyle location, and one of the UK’s highest performing shopping destinations.”
Sevda Cankorur, Head of Retail at Oliver Bonas, added: “Lakeside represents and exciting opportunity for Oliver Bonas, to bring unique fashion, lifestyle and design to a broad audience. With its strong footfall and diverse visitor base, the destination provides an ideal platform for us to connect and grow with new customers across the wider region, as we continue to grow our presence.”
The openings build on over £100 million of investment by retail occupiers at Lakeside over the past three years, underlining continued retailer confidence in Lakeside’s performance and long-term growth. The momentum continues later this year with the opening of Lefties, making Lakeside home to five of Inditex’s eight brands, alongside Zara, Pull&Bear, Bershka and Stradivarius. Collectively, Inditex will occupy more than 125,000 sq ft at Lakeside by the end of the year, reinforcing the destination’s status as a flagship UK location for globally recognised fashion retailers.
