Luxury jewellers Austen & Blake introduces its Era collection – a new take on heritage pieces, through art-felt designs.
The customisable jewellery collection, designed in-house, draws inspiration from antique jewellery design motifs and techniques, blended with thoughtful touches that feel current.
The heirloom pieces that are ready for today include both engagement and diamond rings, as well as bracelets, necklaces and earrings.
Each piece features elements of vintage details and traditional handmade craftsmanship, evolving them into something distinctly modern. Timeless silhouettes have been reinterpreted with subtle, contemporary details.
Every design is made-to-order and is fully personalisable, allowing the customer to select their preferred diamond specifications and precious metal, be it platinum or yellow, white or rose gold.
Sophie Lomax, Head of Design at Austen & Blake, was behind the design for the new collection and comments below:
“The Era collection was heavily inspired by architectural features on many London buildings where I live. Alongside this, I found endless inspiration in Georgian pocket watches. Their remarkable craftsmanship and intricate metalwork reminded me that metal can be just as expressive as a gemstone. That appreciation is reflected throughout the collection, from the sculptural settings and cuff-inspired ring shoulders to the fluted split shanks and carefully considered pendant bales.
“The Georgian period was known for its cut-down setting and this technique is having a revival with modern-day jewellers; however, the pieces can look bulky and can lose their elegance. For the Era collection, I designed a setting that gives the appearance of a delicate cut-down setting from the front, but looks more similar to a classic collet from the side. It’s a great option for a customer who wants a contemporary and wearable piece that harks back to vintage jewellery.
“For me, Era is about celebrating heritage craftsmanship through a modern lens, proving that timeless design can continue to evolve without losing its soul.”
